Note making:

1. Digital notes is so nice you can preserve it to so long and you can get some notes of toppers in this form.
2. Use it some apps like One note, Ms office, Evernote and much more apps are available just get it and preserve your notes.
3. You can make your notes digital as it can have Text, Pictures, Graphics, Videos, Voices anything it is going to advance your skills.
4. You can make an online library of yours can carry anywhere in a pen drive or in your mobile.
5. In my case, I have e-notes and I preserved it.

PDF readers

1. Infinite readers are available just focus on some which are useful.
2. Adobe reader is commonly used and it's ok, you can have some more.
3. My suggestion is pdf-exchange viewer in pdf formats also you should have highlighting points, easy for editing, comments, underlining, Bold, Italics, cut, copy, paste, editing.....

If you want to convert text into pdf in simple form go to options - print- change preference-save as PDF.
